Sure the service academies have been weak but SC has been tough. And they do play 3 BT every year. And of course who doesn't get up for ND!! Every opponent does. Yet except they seem to find a way until they don't

I was trying to look up ND's year by year game records to see who they played each year.

I know they almost always played Navy, Rice and Army - three teams that have had good
years, but have not been year in and year out challenges.

I know it is hard to go undefeated and win it all, but it’s a little easier when you can
count on 4-6 wins every year. Fighting it out in the Big 10 would have challenged those
teams more than their annual stomping of the service academies.

While I am no fan of ND it is hard to believe that their long standing winning tradition
till the 90's would have been tarnished had they been a BT member. Maybe Ara would have
waited a bit longer to jump but their history with rockne leahy and dr lou along with the
desire of practically every catholic kid growing up dreaming to play for ND would have
lead to being college champs (poll at # 1) multiple times

If you look at who the Evil Empire plays each year in football, you wonder why they are
ranked so high.

There was a time the 3 service academies were highly ranked, but now they range from
decent (Navy) to rebuilding for 20 years (Army). This year they are playing Stanford,
Tulsa, Utah, and Western Michigan, along with Purdoo, Michigan and MSU from the Big 10.

The only other two biggies I see on their schedule are USC and Pitt. They will easily be
6-6, and could be 9-3 with Weiss's playbook. You can almost make the case that NU's
schedule this year is harder.

ND should have been in the Big 10 from day 1, then we'd know just how good a history they
would have.

The arrogance of these low-lives is never surprising. It is good to see them start to
slowly twist in the wind. Sounds like they are afraid that the television pie is going to
be split, and they might be 'left behind'. Oh, what a terrible thing that would be.

Always quick to want to separate from others when it suited their purposes, the worthless
tools from South Bend are now whining/crying:

"What if a few conferences further distinguish themselves from the field? What are the
competitive ramifications of that?"

Those conferences are distinguishing themselves from the field because they had a vision,
and took the initiative to get it done. ND expects now (and has always expected) to have
everything handed to them because of who they are. It is a great thing to see them
becoming less and less relevant with each passing season.

Swarbrick also whines:

"The bar has been set so high, and the [current] media market is so tepid, that it creates
a lot of tension."

By tepid, does he mean that his private network just lost a couple hundred million dollars
on the Winter Olympics, and has settled back in to their comfortable role as the 4th place
network ?

The coach says "it is great" to play teams "from all over the country." Doesn't he really
mean lousy, non-competitive teams from all over the country ?

Finally Swarbrick adds "we're trying like heck to maintain our football independence. It's
good for college football." No, Jack, it's good for you. The rest of the college
football world has moved along without your useless program. If you want to stay
independent, be prepared for even more separation between the 'haves' (Big Ten, SEC), and
your pathetic program.

I hope Swarbrick and Co. come begging this time on bended knee, and Delaney tells them to
go to hell.
