[NU Sports] Could be interesting NIT

Thanks - it'd be very disappointing if this is on the mark. Would be great if the Cats come up with some success in the Big Ten tourney to get in from the bubble. :)

This site, which has been historically pretty accurate and nailed our
seeding in the NIT last year, as of today has NU out of the NIT, a possible
bubble team:

To answer your question, last year's Stanford team -- a major conference
team with plenty of history and in the Final Four not long ago -- did not
make the NIT despite a 20-14 record. They did pony up the bucks for the CBI
and ended up making it to the semifinals of the tournament before losing to
eventual champion Oregon State.

Without a good run in the BT tourney, if NU does make the NIT, they will
likely be no better than a #8 seed, playing a #1 seed on the road. Might not
be very pretty given the team's performance away from home this year. An
argument could be made that the CBI might be a better chance to get some
experience (and at least a home game out of the deal).
