Fellow Wildcub Faithful,
I won't be able to attend this game regardless of where it is played, but I don't see any downside to trying a game at Wrigley. Yes there will be logistical issues, but none that would prevent a true fan from going to the game. NU football isn't an established brand name like Michigan, Nebraska or USC. For use, all publicity is good publicity (outside of the police blotter).
I hate to tip my hat to Notre Dame, but when Knute Rockne was at the helm they would take their team anywhere in the country to play a game (I believe the term was 'barnstorming' back in the day) at that exposure helped them build a strong national brand. I know one game 7 miles south of Evanston won't have the same effect, but what could it hurt?
Trey McAdams wrote an excellent email pointing out how NU can make this an NU event rather than just a non-home game. Throw in a Sox-fan quote from Fitz saying "For the first time in my life I'm cheering for the home team at Wrigley" and you can have some fun with this one.
Victory & Honor,
Jim
