[NU Sports] NU's football bang for the buck ...

I think what affects spending a great deal is whether or not you go to a 
bowl, bring the band, cheerleaders, etc. It even means more practice 
time which incurs more expenses. It might not be much but athletic tape 
and video of the practices etc., that all costs money.

Didn't we also have to buy a certain amount of seats last year as a 
guarantee? Or did we just promise a number and meet it with fan 
enthusiasm? I don't recall offhand.

Since Illinois didn't go to a bowl last year and we did, that might 
explain some of the disparity in expenses.

Of course, it all balances out when you get your share of the Big Ten 
bowl pool and I am certainly not suggesting we not go because of the 
expense!
