I agree with those who say the MWC won't necessarily expand to fill a 
"tenth" slot, especially if no free team exists that could help their 
BCS profile (right now, Hawaii is the only team that would even come close).

As for Sen. Hatch, since BYU is still on the "outside" we may not be 
done hearing from him. (Jonathan H. confirms as much in his message, 
arriving even as I type the words.) As for Obama, I've only ever seen 
him address the subject in an ESPN puff piece, and even then he made it 
clear that he had other things to worry about. I'd call his 
"involvement" a non-item, not that it's stopped columnists from dropping 
his name every now and then. As before, legislators (whether state or 
federal) are most likely to attempt interference in all things college 
football.

The BCS is far from stable -- they keep making up new rules as they go 
along -- but the recent conference jumping won't hasten its demise. 
They'll just make up more rules.
