You mean across Iowa? Yeah, it's a long drive, but not that bad. Coming from Chicago, your drive across Nebraska is pretty short--cross the river into Omaha, through town, then an hour or so on to Lincoln. Most of the trip is through Illinois and Iowa.
Some fun stuff to do in Omaha. Decent restaurants, nice downtown area.
In any case, everyone should attend a Husker game in Lincoln at least once in their life. As good a game environment/stadium setting as you'll find anywhere, with the friendliest fans. Going to be a tough ticket though.
In terms of challenges posed to NU, yeah, adding a trip every other year to Lincoln just upped our strength-of-schedule difficulty several notches.
Nebraska hasn't been as dominant at home lately, where they were virtually unbeatable for quite a long stretch. I suspect Pellini will get the Huskers back to that level, but it may take some time.
I suspect OSU will continue to be the toughest place for NU to play, for various reasons, but Lincoln will be a challenge on that level.
