I hate to agree with Stephen (I think it happened once in 1994) but he's right about Delany. All of the back room conversations have been had. I don't think the Big Ten office is in a state of panic at all.
I have been in favor of just adding ND. That brings a brand name and academics to the conference and georgraphically it's a no brainer. There is FAR LESS wow if Nebraska turns out to be the only new face.
I hope the dust settles soon.
Jim

I don't think Delaney was necessarily beaten to the punch here -- I don't think we really were eyeing the Buffs.
It's more of a survival move for the Buffs - they wanted to accept the invite before the Texas legislature tried to force their hand to accept Baylor.
So the eyes are now on Texas ... not sure about the report that they're looking into the Big Ten, but they'd certainly find an open door if they did. They may be scrambling now that two schools have defied their orders to stay under their thumb in the Big XII. :)
I think Delaney will leave Mizzou and KU dangling right now and focus on the Irish and eastward.
And if we wait, we wait. We have 12 now, a pretty balanced football league and one heck of a title game coming to Indy (I assume) or Soldier Field (outdoors!!!). A little too much red in the league for my taste, but this is a pretty good move for the league. Much better than just adding Mizzou to get to 12.
Wake up, Irish!
GO CATS!!!
