I think the conference expansion whirlwind has gone well beyond the reasonable bounds of verified reporting. Many stories seem to site generic "sources" which probably means there is not truth to them whatsoever. However, one of the rumors that does sound plausible is that the Texas state legislature wants to bundle Baylor in with Texas and Texas A&M for the Pac 16 and leave Colorado out in the cold. 

Adding Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska to the Big Ten wouldn't be the worst thing that could happen. At least the Denver media market would be a nice western bookend after the smaller markets in Kansas and Nebraska. All four schools are AAU members (www.aau.edu). I doubt it will happen, but it remains an option. 

The 5th team could end up being Iowa State (aslo an AAU member), Notre Dame, or a school in the Northeast. I personally don't like the idea fo Rutgers in the Big Ten and I am equally horrified by the other purple wildcats (KSU) joining. At least KSU isn't an AAU member.
