[NU Sports] Pac 10 to invite 6 Big XII schools to join?

It would be an interesting move by the Pac 10 and certainly would steal the thunder from the hem-hawing Big Ten. Hmm ...

As for ATM, let's be honest and say that they don't get a vote. The Big XII's fate is really resting on Texas. The Horns bolt and the league crumbles.

It certainly would help both leagues jump up to the level of the SEC and Big Ten in terms of major TV powers.

But overall, I just don't see the two fitting together. The distance between Seattle and Austin is MASSIVE (2000+ miles for ATM and UT).

Also, I just don't see Texas Tech trailing along ... ATM/UT make sense in the usual Pac 10 pairing of sites (smart on travel costs), even Okie State and OU (though they offer much less) ... but Lubbock and Boulder aren't natural pairs. Utah and BYU would be. Colorado and Air Force would be.

And it could be an interesting tug of war between LA and Dallas/Houston for major events. Right now the Pac 10 seems OK to have LA as the center of their league.

But an interesting report nonetheless ... and it would lead to some major dominoes of its own ... the northern schools would probably be begging the Big Ten to join (Mizzou and Nebraska would probably be welcomed with open arms ... Kansas? Maybe ... Iowa State??? K State???). The Big Ten would then probably raid the Big East for enough to get to 16 and the SEC would do the same with the ACC. And the Big East/ACC would combine into a basketball superpower.

Which would make playoffs much easier. The Big Ten/Pac 10 Rose Bowl would be a MUST every January 1 and be one de-facto semifinal. The SEC and ACC could have the other at Atlanta, Miami or the Sugar Bowl ... and the "plus one" bowl at Jerryworld or Phoenix.

No more B(C)S? I vote AYE! :)
