Dennis,
What if his very public religious orientation were Muslim or Jewish? Would you feel the need to make the same comment? I doubt it. My guess is you would not say that about Abdul Rauf of the NBA even though there were many who thought he came off as a winner for his actions. As usual, you miss a very valid point this time made by Roy. He, in no way, was making a disparaging comment about the things you believe in. Rather he was clearly stating that in our country, where all religious orientations are protected, Mr. Tebow has managed to care deeply and publicly about his religion without proselytizing, which in sports, is a welcomed attitude. Which, BTW, is exactly what Abdul Rauf did.
In my book nobody is a winner unless they either win or are a good human being. If their God helps them do that, then great, but don't tell me I'll be a good person or a winner if I could just believe what they believe. The second they do, they are no winner in my eyes. But that's okay, I'm sure within a year the Supreme Court will throw the right to believe in whichever faith we want out the window as well. Just my opinion.
And to get back on point, I enjoyed watching Mr. Tebow play. But, like Mr. Wuerfel, my guess is his best days are now behind him, so if he can use a commercial to spark a different career...hell...I'm all for it. Oops, did I say hell?
