[NU Sports] Home Court Advantage

Go back more than 5 years and it gets worse and worse...
Can't remember the year, but it was early in BC's tenure that he started
pushing "winning at home." He knew, as do most BKB coaches how hard it is to
win on the road.
In that "other" conference, the one we play every fall, there are teams who
have won national championships who still can't beat certain teams on the
road. Even now, an away win by Maryland over Duke is considered a cause for
celebration.
I just happened to be at the NU - Indiana game played on signing day a few
years back. It was one of the first games we'd won over Indy in what seemed
decades. I think that was when BC started talking about home court.
In any case, our guys seem to have become believers and are starting to
really defend W-R the way MSU and Wiscy defends theirs.

If it's been based on the more than the last couple of years, then we would
naturally have very little home court advantage because we couldn't win home
or away. The last couple of years that is starting to change and will
continue to improve as the team improves. In this article, Nash comments on
the crowd last Saturday. I was going to link to it anyway because the
headline is priceless, especially since it comes from the Daily Ilini:
