Jeff and List Gang,
I liked Jeff's post that desribed our performance as gritty and poised. Well put. Nash showed what good teams are all about. When the big gun has an off night (Thompson), someone else steps up.
Our reserves also played a part; playing good defense and "holding serve". Guys who haven't played much; while they didn't score kept Ill-noise from taking a 5 point lead up to 12-15 while Juice was on the bench.
Rowley played well in his 6 minutes; I'm a bit surprised he had no minutes in the 2nd half. Ill-noise's big turkey scored 14; Mirkovic and rawley scored 13.
Just a satisfying win; when it was 44-51 I didn't see it coming. Well done Cats!
3-4 in the conference. I've been chortling that a 3-6 conference start will be enough to secure an NCAA bid. Now we have at Minn., at MSU, home vs. Michigan. We need to win (1) of the next 3 games to be 4-6 before the back end of our schedule, which includes 6 games against Iowa, Penn St. and Indiana. Win 5 of those 6, one other conference win, beat Chicago St., and let the party begin.
GO CATS!! Eric

Yup.
n interesting contrast to the game down in Champybana.
his time we were the ones with foul trouble. Boy we really struggle on both
nds of the floor with Juice on the bench.
his was really a gritty win. Couldn't buy a three for most of the game. They
ere gashing us going to the basket, but we hung in there and kept the game
lose. It was impressive to see this team rise up at home, grab momentum when
t counted, make big shots, make even bigger free throws, and show great poise.
n the end Illinois were the ones making mistakes and NU were the ones taking
dvantage of them. Huge change from last year.
t was also great to see WR rockin'. In those last five minutes, we really did
ave a home court advantage.
armody proved again that he is a good tactical coach. Key basket out of a time
ut to start the run. Key play late in the game after another time out to break
he press using a pass behind the baseline.
y the way, that dominant center that they have and we lack had 14 points and 6
ebounds. Luka had 9 points and 9 rebounds. Clearly we're doomed.

It was indeed an excellent win, and one we really needed. We can't afford to
ose any home games, and if we could somehow get a win on the road this week (we
lay at Minnesota and at Mich. State), that would be very special.
