Sorry for the Sunday morning preaching, but...
The fun for this Cats fan is in enjoying the exhilarating moments and the efforts and progress of the team (yes, Mirkovic, Rowley and Co.). I don't see the pleasure in focusing on shortcomings and discounting what the players have achieved or might, but see plenty in reveling in the present and hoping the ride continues as the team represents all of us with great passion, win or lose.
Unless I'm missing something, NU athletics are supposed to be about fun and shared experiences. It's troubling when the disappointments of the past (despite decades of presumably earnest efforts) are heaped onto the backs of kids who have nothing to do with frustrations gone by and are playing their hearts out to attain new heights.
When I was a student 30 years ago and ever since I have been grateful for the dedication that goes into bringing the rest of us so much...even when the results aren't what they or we would like. If anything, knowing how hard it is to be successful has fostered an increased appreciation for all that goes into trying to maximize the experience and make history.
I may be wearing purple/rose-colored glasses, but I choose to enjoy the heck out of all of this. Just as the Outback Bowl, despite the letdown of the outcome, was a blast, so is this.
All the best to everyone...and Go Cats!
Willie

We beat Michigan and Purdue in no small part because Mircovic had good games
against both. But let's keep in mind that the former has no good big man
and the latter's got into early foul trouble last night. Let's see what
happens over the long haul. I experienced too many seasons of getting hopes
up only to have them dashed on the rocks of talent-starved defeat. We have
a talented back court, but the jury is still out on Luca and they have
convicted Kyle.

I'm from Pennsylvania, but on this one, it's Missouri. No more games of
"IF." I want to sSEE it happen. I'll always eat crow where the Cats are
concerned.
