Subject: Re: [NU Sports] Cats-Purdie
I have been relatively quiet up until now about hoops, as I haven't really seen the games on the tube, for one reason or another. I saw a team today that believed it was going to win. And I saw a Coach who was much calmer than in years past. They won today, even though Shurma was relatively quiet and not really shooting well--although he still hit the boards. This was a TEAM today--they picked each other up, and played with emotion (especially Luka), and the crowd definitely helped. When has NU ever had more depth than a worthy Big Tern opponent? Well, we had it today, by a wide margin. Our guys off gthe bench added more than their guys. This is going to be a long, tough slog. And every "W" is worth its weight in gold, given how good and deep the Conference is. IF we only had pulled out the Illinois game, we'd really be in very fine shape. To be 2-3 at this stage, given the tough opponents we have faced, is pretty darn good in my book. Let's keep the faith, stay the course, and, as I said in a recent email, take it ONE GAME AT A TIME. And maybe, just maybe, we'll be "dancing" at the end of the trail. And, if not, we will have an incredible foundation for next year.

And today's production from the center position (which according to Mr
Brandt we don't have anyone who can play at NU):

20 pts, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, one block, only two turnovers, and 8-8 from
the free-throw line.

Will there even be room for Dennis on the wagon?
