First pro game in 1964-- Jets ar Shea. Can't remember the opponent.
First college game was when I was in elementary school marching band, playing trumpet at halftime of game at Kings Point (US Merchant Marine Academy) in early '60's. Hobart mau have been opponent.
First NU game in Sept. 1970 against the Irish at Dyche. We were tied 14-14 at the half. We lost 35-14, but I was hooked. Packed house, gorgeous weather, with my parents. And NU had good team that ended up 6-1 in BT with shot at roses.

My first college game was in 1951. NU played Colorado and won. In fact we
won the first four games that year, including Army and the Naval Academy. I
had just returned from Korea that July and was in absolute awe of my
surroundings and the complete college atmosphere. The first NFL game was in 1940
watching the Washington Redskins. I don't remember the team but season
tickets for six home games came to a grand total of $6.60, a $1.10 per game for
end zone seats. On Sunday, Dec. 7, 1941 the Redskins were playing the
Philadelphia Eagles when the public address announcer started to page people.
"Would General so-and-so report to the War Department." or "Would Admiral
blank please report to his office." And through the stadium the word was
passed that Pearl Harbor had been attacked. And, yes, I saw the 73-0
shellacking that the Chicago Bears handed to us. One small vignette from the game:
There were about three minutes remaining in the game and the Bears had just
scored their 66th or 67th point when the guy in front of me rose unsteadily
to his feet and announced to his neighbors. "Well. that was the touchdown
that beat us!"
