Great!

One of the key indicators for progress in our football program is our
ability to reload rather than rebuild.

Both GB and Walk had boom and bust programs that generally tracked the
graduation of senior skill folks. This year's team with Kafka was the
first big test of whether Fitz has moved us out of that cycle. Next
year's team will demonstrate whether this year with Kafka was a fluke,
or Persa can pick right up where CJ and Kafka left off.

The secret, as others have suggested, may be in improved recruiting
every year so underclassmen are competing and winning starting
positions. Walk talked about it. Fitz is actually doing it.

Having seen Persa a few times in spring and fall scrimmages in addition
to his game action, I don't think much of a transformation will be
necessary. I think Persa already has most of the tools necessary, and
I'm fairly certain he would have been good enough to win us games this
year had he been the starter all year.

He'll have some different strengths and weaknesses compared to Kafka,
but I think the potential there is huge.

I think the accuracy, zip, ability to make plays on the move, and
certainly the ability to run will all be there.

The question is whether he'll get to be as good as Kafka was at reading
what was happening and throwing quickly to the right receiver. Given
that the offensive line should be even better next year, Persa should
have every opportunity to develop those skills.

I could be wrong, but this is coming from someone who said all along
Kafka had huge potential. :-)

Yep.
