Neither the system nor Bill Carmody is the problem and never has been.  His 
teams have always been well coached.  While the talent pool of guards, small 
forwards, and swing men is better than at any time since the late 1960s, 
there is still a glaring absence of it on the front line.  For us to win, 
either the other team must be small, or our backcourt has to play a super 
game, which is why we can pull off the occasional upset but not win over the 
long haul.  Until we have the skills to play solid baseline defense, cut 
down on the putbacks, and get more of our own garbage points, winning 
consistently and the NCAA tournament will remain frustratingly out of reach. 
We're closer than ever before, but we ain't there yet.
