[NU Sports] NIT here we come

I've read and enjoyed the many great points made.

The NCAAs were always a longshot and the losses to Illinois and Wisconsin hurt the chances.  But if you'd have asked anybody when Kevin Coble got hurt if an NIT season would be a success, they'd have to have said yes.  

For whatever it's worth, this fan's approach is to enjoy and support the team and hope for the best, including pleasant surprises.  The NCAAs aren't out of the question and a berth in the NIT is not a sure thing - - nothing is.  All we can say for sure is that this group is better and has played better than all or almost all Cats teams any of us can remember and if it plays its best, it can make it into the postseason.  It sure is a blast to watch - - the games are exciting and it's great to see these kids represent NU with hard work and tough play and receive some well-deserved success and even national attention.    

I'm one of those who've never been comfortable with using an NU fans' forum to bash kids who seem to be trying their best for our school, win or lose.

But it's a lot of fun celebrating (and commiserating) with all of you and dissecting and reminiscing.  It'd be great to get together sometime at a tournament, as it was at the Bowl.

My thoughts exactly!

It's OK, though. The bandwagon will continue to stop for loading and unloading, after both wins and losses. Plenty of room on board. Watch your step. Mind the gap.

I didn't see the game, but it seems pretty clear from the stories that this was one of those situations where you really miss Kevin Coble.

When things just aren't going well and shots aren't falling, that's when you most need a pure "scorer", capable of creating and making his own shots--both inside and outside.

That, my friends, is Kevin Coble. He's not there right now, and sometimes that gap just won't be filled. Doesn't change the fact this is the best b-ball team we've fielded in a long time. It's just not as good as it might be. Good enough? Remains to be seen.
