Don't know anything about Kippy Brown but if he gets the job he'll be the
third African-American SEC coach behind Sylvester Croom who coached
Mississippi State for about 4-5 years up until either the end of the 2008
season or the season before that and the newly promoted Joker Philips who
took the reins at Kentucky upon the retirement of Rich Brooks. As a side
note, all three Division I-A (FBS) schools in KY hired new coaches this
offseason and all three coaches are black. I doubt there is any state that
could say that all their D-IA coaches, assuming multiple schools, are black.

I too think USC hit a home run with Kiffin, especially after being turned
down three times, if press reports are to be believed. It looks like
Kiffin is reassembling the old gang so to speak making the transition
somewhat easier for the players.
