My humble suggestion is that we follow the old sports cliche. Given our sorry history, let's take it one game at a time. Then if we are going to the Dance, it will be even sweeter.------Original Message------From: Hakirsch at aol.comSender: nwu-sports-bounces at tssi.comTo: WildElk2 at aol.comTo: nwu-sports-bounces at tssi.comTo: thehaze at earthlink.netTo: nwu-sports at tssi.comReplyTo: Hakirsch at aol.comSubject: Re: [NU Sports] Wildcats 68, Michigan 62Sent: Jan 10, 2010 11:29 PM
Not sure when we went from 16 to 18 conf games but in the 70s and 80s we played 18. Perhaps it dropped when the BT tourney was addedAlso remember our record will indicate an extra loss from the BT tourney (assuming we don't win it all !) So that an opening round win with a next round loss adds 1-1 to our overall record. A few years ago, 3, maybe 4? The Big 10 went from 16 to 18 conference games. I agree with your premise that if we have a winning conference record, as well as beating Chicago St., there will be no argument if we'll make the NCAA tornement. If we go 9-9, a win in the conference tournement may be neccessay, but there's a long way to go before that discussion occurs. GO CATS!! Eric

Enjoyed watching that comeback very much - certainly more entertaining than the avens-Pats game that was on at the same time. Michigan is not a great team, and f we had lost today, I wasn't going to feel optimistic about the rest of the eason. But come from behind we did, and we absolutely have a chance to make to he tournament this year. I know some Big Ten teams have made it in the past ith 17 or 18 wins, but I'd rather not leave it in the hands of the committee hat might not do us any favors. I think that if we make it to 20 wins, we're n. That means winning our out-of conference games (as we did with Pan American he other night) and going 8-8 in the conference. We can do it! - Jim B._______________________________________________wu-sports site listwu-sports at tssi.comttp://romaine.tssi.com/mailman/listinfo/nwu-sports_______________________________________________nwu-sports site listnwu-sports at tssi.comhttp://romaine.tssi.com/mailman/listinfo/nwu-sports
