I think it has more to do with the broken relationship with his AD after they hung Carroll out to dry on the Bush and subsequent investigations. There are enough questions surrounding the program and Seattle is in the right locale (west coast, on tthe water) plus they're giving him totalcontrol, that this year he most likely will take it. The money probably didn't mean too much - he was already making $4 million plus per year.

Must be paying a ton of money to get him to leave yet he hasn't had much success in the NFL.

Not quite Big Ten news, but it appears something interesting is happening with the team that began our current bowl game streak with the barely eligible Keyshawn Johnson ...
Would one so-so year really be enough to send Pete Carroll to the NFL?
You gotta think there's something more here. The guy has built an empire in LA where they are essentially the pro football team in town, national title contenders every year, recruiting is easy and life is sweet. And unlike being a big-name SEC coach, you really don't have much competition (the Pac 10 is better than most people give it credit for, but still ... you know ... c'mon).
I know this last year was a struggle, as once Oregon popped the bully in the mouth, it was like the rest of the league suddenly wasn't in awe of that blasted three-note song anymore. But they're loaded coming back and should be in the thick of things next year.
Could it be something with the recent basketball sanctions and investigation into the football program? Or is he just afraid of Jimmy Harbaugh?:)
And Seattle? Seriously? After sunny SoCal?
Could be a truly seismic shift if both Carroll and St. Urban are off the sidelines in college football next year, along with Bobby. Granted, their programs are hardly left with the cupboard bare, but turnover's never easy.
Unfortunately, it probably just means less competition on the recuiting trail for Nick the Prick.
GO CATS!!!

PS - Maybe the Irish will have a shot at beating SC this year. If they can slip by RichRod and beat Navy, B(C)S embarrassment, here they come!
