Nick Saban is NOT the son of the well-traveled coach Lou Saban, who had an 0-8-1 season at NU in 1955, with George Steinbrenner as an assistant.  Lou Saban died last year at age 87.

Winning 4 straight titles is tough to argue with. One could claim that this says nothing about the conferences strength from top to bottom but when you realize that florida is #2 in the conf and probably # 2 in the country you have to give it to the SEC as the best.

Unfortunately the Tides championship reinforces the notion that if you pay mega bucks for a top coach you have a much better shot of winning it all.

Its a shame that Nick gets to win another one after all he pulled .  By the way his dad(Lou)was head coach at NU for, I believe, one year in the 50s prior to going to the AFL
