Yes. I remember him well.  He told everyone in his class one quarter that he didn't want anyone to worry about grades so he would give everyone A's

Brutus was also instrumental in the African boycott of the 1976 Olympics because New Zealand wasn't banned from the Olympics.  Their "crime" was playing a soccer match (a non-olympic sport) with the then apatheid South Africa.  I went to the 1976 games in montreal and it was sad to see so many countries missing

A seminal figure in the battle against apartheid in South Africa and an  
English professor 1971 - 1985 at Northwestern has died.  He used sports to  
fight the racial policies as portrayed in the film "Invictus." Any of us on 
the  left (everybody?) remember him as a real symbol of a world of  racial 
politics far away from Evanston, as well as close to  home
