[NU Sports] Proud of the boys and proud of Fitz!

Friday Night Quarterback statement: We were 4 of 4, maybe 5 of 5 on 4th down; Auburn knew trickery was coming; why not send Kafka out; go 3 wide and see what happens? I'm not mad at Fitz for going for the win; but we needed our best players to do it. A trick FG with a poor scrubber FG kicker wasn't the place to pull a fake. Bo knew, I knew, and for certain the Auburn defense knew what was coming.
Still, a maddingly exciting game for which we should all feel proud to be a part of. The Cats always get your money's worth; win or lose. The bowl drought sucks; raise your hand if you're tired of "...Northwestern hasn't won a bowl game since facemasks weren't part of the helmet..." For tonight I say "Bite me", but its true. We just need to keep winning and one of these dag 'gum days (respect to Bobby) we'll win one.
No doubt our program is heading in the right direction. A year I thought would be 6-6 and a "big whoop" game vs. Ohio in Detroit ended into one of the most exciting Jan. 1st bowl games ever. Thank You Cats!

             Go Cats!! Eric

Fitzgerald said we had not practiced the fake fg in 4 years. Wooten was the
ight tackle on the play and totally missed his block.

I had a really bad feeling when Demos missed the FG in regulation, but Auburn
ept giving me reasons to feel confident. Had to go for the fake. That Bar
itzvah boy looked like he had just gotten out of a landing craft on D-Day. No
ay he's allowed to kick that. Give Auburn credit for being ready on the quick
nap.
All that said, the boys played with such heart (Dunsmore's YAC for a TD was
ownright inspirational). But my most proud moment? Fitz taking Kafka aside
fter the fifth INT and joking around with him. He's one in a million that guy.
akes it SOOOOO easy to be a proud Wildcat fan!
Go Cats! And Happy New Year!
