Hey, even the announcers noted it - the third quarter has been a bit different, but the first half was ALL Northwestern. We moved the ball up and down the field, while they had only one offensive series that moved the ball. We dominated yardage, time of possession and everything but the turnovers and scores. We were on the doorstep of scoring twice and threw two INTs in the end zone. We missed a FG. We gave them a TD with the first pick.
I'm not saying we're the better team -- we couldn't make the plays and execute and made too many mistakes -- but we CLEARLY dominated the first half.
This wasn't a case of NU being blown off the field by SEC speed. We moved the ball. We stuffed them. We controlled the game. We had chance after chance to blow this game open in our favor.
We just let all those chances slip away.
The third quarter is different so far -- our D is still playing their guts out, but the O is stagnant. Auburn is clearly out-coaching us, especially in the matchup of their defense vs. our offense and they're winning the turnover battle. But we're clearly good enough to be on the same field with this SEC team - we just need to execute.
GO CATS!!!
