[NU Sports] Big Ten Pride--USA

There are just five BigTen schools that sponsor NCAA hockey- Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State and Wisconsin. It takes six schools for the BigTen to support a championship, so for now, those schools are forced to compete in separate hockey-only conferences.

In the Chicago area, UIC had hockey at one point but dropped the program due to finances.
