The talk with Texas is probably an attempt to scare Notre Dame (the most logical choice). 

However, the real pressure would come if the Big Ten simply announced it would not renew any non-conference games with the Irish. Other than USC, the real value in the NBC/ND contract is Purdue, MSU, Michigan and the other Big Ten teams Notre Dame occasionally plays. The Michigan contract has been extended for 20 years, but freezing the others would more or less force ND into the Big Ten.

No chance, I know the Horns boosters, Jim Bob et all. who brought Mac Brown 
to Tulane and then to Texas, it could never happen.
