No discussion on the Super Bowl ads, so here goes.
Betty White and Abe Vigoda get my vote for making the funniest commercial. The weird award goes to the underwear-clad office. (I know it was for an online job search service, but I can't recall which one, i.e., a failed ad although funny.) The Tebow ad was an anti-climax. My sportsphobic wife, who hasn't a clue who Tim Tebow is and is unaware of the controversy surrounding the ad, didn't have the foggiest notion what it was about. It said nothing other than go to our web site if you want to find out more. Nonetheless, N.O.W. president Terry O'Neill blasted it for promoting violence against women because Tim "tackled" his mother. "Jockocracy," they call it. I suppose the football game in the Snickers ad likewise promoted violence against women, not to mention the elderly. The organization even blasted the stock-trading baby ads for promoting sexism. Where nuns take a vow of poverty, N.O.W. members must take a vow of humorlessness.
