How about this -- "We may be broke, but at least we're not about to become the second school ever to get the death penalty due to a football and basketball factory run amok."

Sorry - everything may be true, but SC will always be the football factory school for spoiled children ... it would take a long time for me to see it on par with its brethren in northern California or Northwestern. I wouldn't consider it on part with the upper half of Big Ten universities either (Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, etc.)
