[NU Sports] NU draftees

At one point Lamar Hunt was losing $1 Million a year on the Dallas AFL Team.

One enterprising reporter asked his father, H.L. Hunt - of HLH Foods Fame - how long Lamar
could continue to lose that much money. HL thought a minute and said, "About a hundred
years."

And that's when a million dollars was a million dollars!

Lamar actually stuck it out three years in Dallas because they were winning more than the
Cowboys while both were playing in the Cotton Bowl, the Texans actually won the AFL
championship over the Oilers, before they moved to KC in 1963....

I believe he played for the Patriots. I don't recall him suiting up for the
Eagles.

BTW, there was a great series on Showtime (and perhaps elsewhere) on the
growth of the AFL and the eventual merger. Worth watching. Did you know
that the Vikings and Cowboys franchises exist only because the fledgling AFL
was preparing to put teams into those cities? They did in Dallas, but the
Cowboys overshadowed them. That's why they became the Kansas City Chiefs.
