[NU Sports] Iowa-Missouri history

I don't know if they mentioned this on the broadcast since I didn't watch
much of the game, but the bowl game was the first meeting between Iowa and
Mizzou in 100 years.   There is a fascinating history behind that 100 year
gap and I ran across an article from the Columbia Tribune, Mizzou's,
hometown newspaper, which gives a brief synopsis. Basically, it was a racial
thing and following several years of difficulty over Iowa fielding an
African-American, Missouri simply refused to play any team fielding
African-Americans, a policy which remained intact for the next 40 years.
The Big Eight wasn't integrated until 1957.
