The Good Lord was unkind to Kyle Rowley. He made the young man seven feet
tall and broad at the shoulder but forgot to include any other ingredient to
make him a basketball player. For two years, he offered nothing of athletic
value to the NU basketball team. Why would we miss that?
Northwestern will win some games this season and even pull off an upset or
two when the three is falling. They'll also have cold shooting nights, blow
second-half leads, and get pounded on the glass in just about every game,
losing a bunch of close ones and getting blown out here and there. Guards
and small forwards we have, but the total absence of an inside game will
again curse them to Big Ten mediocrity. Shame. The talent level has risen
to where we're one center or power forward from being a contender, but those
we ain't got. I hope I'm wrong and the dance finally reaches Evanston, but
I doubt it.
