[NU Sports] For those who need a break from dumb Big Ten ideas ...

You know, that WAS fun...because it illustrated all the reasons why I hate the
idea of a playoff.

The first time I ran the simulation, Virginia Tech--a team that lost
to I-AA James Madison--made it all the way to the championship game. blech.

The second time, Stanford (a team that couldn't win it's own conference title)
won the National Championship.  double blech.

The third time (and I swear, I'm not making this up) the #2 through #6
seeds--Oregon, TCU, Stanford, Wisconsin, & Ohio State--all lost in the first
round, and the #15 seed Nevada made it to the championship game.  At that point,
I about tossed my breakfast all over my laptop and felt it was time to quit.

So, you know...playoffs aren't a guarantee of spectacular drama.  Sometimes,
they just suck.

Here's a fun link from SI for those who wish someone in college football could
make a smart decision.:)

My five simulations using the different methods yielded national champions of
...

- Auburn
- Alabama
- Oregon
- TCU
- Wisconsin

Pretty fun. Wish we could see it on the field!:)

GO CATS!!!
