[NU Sports] UCONN in BCS

I'm happy for UConn and all - cinderella story, good coach, etc.

But ... they still lost to Michigan. The 7th place team in the Big Ten.

And it really is a joke that they will be in the B(C)S while a team like 11-1 Big Ten co-champ Michigan State will not. They can add TCU if they want, but the Big EastSouthWest is still the league that one of the bowls has to get stuck with each year.

It will be interesting to see where the Huskies get stuck. It would be a bit odd to make Stanford and UConn - two schools that do not bring a lot of fans - criss cross the country for their bowl game. But then again, not much of the B(C)S makes sense.

Oh well, a rather anti-climactic end to the season to lead into the once-great bowl season that instead is now full of empty stadiums, 7-5 teams playing each other and that marquee Orange Bowl matchup of UConn and VaTech. Not to mention another Rose Bowl without the tradition of Big Ten champ vs. Pac 10 champ (which would have been one heck of a game this year).
