Don't know if there is any back story, but clearly he wasn't going to be
"the man" and slipped fairly significantly down the depth chart.
Good news is that Fitz has another schollie to offer. Bad news is that
the RB position continues to be a work in progress.

EVANSTON, Ill.-Northwestern University head football coach Pat
Fitzgerald announced today that
sophomore running back Arby Fields (Alta Loma, Calif./Los Osos) is
leaving the Wildcat program.
"We're disappointed that Arby has made the decision to leave
Northwestern," said Fitzgerald. "He is an
outstanding young man and we wish him nothing but the best in his future
endeavors."
In two seasons, Fields played in 23 career games and totaled 480 rushing
yards (3.3 ypc), 21 receptions
