[NU Sports] WOW!

Not that Sagarin is the final authority, but the Cats made a nice move to #54
after the game last night, from around #70.  Georgia Tech is a surprising 120.
What's hurting the Cats is a woeful #300 in strength of schedule.  That should
improve a bit, as Long Island is at #112, and St. Johns is at #19.  That
tournament game in NY (if it happens) will be key to determining if the Cats get
ranked.

The Cats looked very impressive last night, except for free throw shooting,
What's most impressive to me is how much deeper the bench is this year.  Guys
that didn't play much last year are now getting some meaningful minutes and
experience.  That will pay didvends as the season progresses.

The next big test for the Cats will be to prove that they can beat a good team
on the road.  They'll have to do that to get the record in the Big Ten that will
get them into the tournament.

Last night's game was a LOT of fun.

When this team is hot, they can score a lot of points.

This team also showed its maturity last night by keeping GT down the
whole second half after posting that big first half number.  They
answered every run and never gave GT any hope of getting the lead under
ten.  It was pretty sloppy at times, but they got the job done.  Last
year this team didn't seem to know how to play with a big lead.

We'll still need to see how they play on nights when the three isn't
falling.

As long as we can force teams to defend the three point line, it will
open up the court for all of our motion offense to the basket.

Assuming everyone stays healthy (particularly Thompson), this is going
to be the year the NCAA tourney drought is broken.

We've now won our ACC-Big Ten Challenge game three years in a row, but
our total record is 5-7.  I suspect someone has a better record.  Btw,
I seem to recall that many of us were pumped up after the 'Cats won
their ACC game each of the past two years, only to see the team fall
apart in Big Ten play.  Let's hope this year is different.
