We are bringing the dogs and driving down in the morning so we are staying at the Red Roof in Goodletsville which is just north of Nashville -- 25 minutes from Vandy. For us it is a drive in, watch the game, sleep, and drive back. Definitely nothing fancy.
We are buying scalped tickets as the prices online look reasonable which means the secondary market outside the stadium should be abundant.

I've never been to Vanderbilt, but we're going to the game, so I'll
quickly share my research.

There are two hotels immediately adjacent to the stadium: a Holiday
Inn and a Marriott. There are also a bunch of other hotels within a
few blocks of the stadium in Nashville's "West End" including a Loews
(which appears to be the nicest hotel in the neighborhood), two
Hampton Inns, a Courtyard, and a little further up West End Ave., an
Embassy Suites and a Hilton Garden Inn. The "West End" appears to be
a fairly hip part of town, and given that you can walk to the game,
that's where we're staying. According to one guidebook, "[T]he
moneymakers and musicians of the Nashville scene gather in the West
End, referred to by locals as the intellectual side of town. . . .
[T]his upscale neighborhood is home to many small shops, lots of
excellent (and often expensive) restaurants, and several hotels." The
guide goes on to say that a bunch of country music stars live in
mansions nearby. The neighborhood is also adjacent to Nashville's
Centennial Park, which features a full-size replica of the Parthenon.

If anyone else has any more info to share, we'd appreciate it, as well.

By the way, I learned today that NU sold its entire allotment of
tickets for the Vanderbilt game, so there should be a few Cats fans in
attendance. I'll be buying our tickets from StubHub or directly from
Vanderbilt.
