I've never been to Vanderbilt, but we're going to the game, so I'll
quickly share my research.
There are two hotels immediately adjacent to the stadium: a Holiday
Inn and a Marriott. There are also a bunch of other hotels within a
few blocks of the stadium in Nashville's "West End" including a Loews
(which appears to be the nicest hotel in the neighborhood), two
Hampton Inns, a Courtyard, and a little further up West End Ave., an
Embassy Suites and a Hilton Garden Inn. The "West End" appears to be
a fairly hip part of town, and given that you can walk to the game,
that's where we're staying. According to one guidebook, "[T]he
moneymakers and musicians of the Nashville scene gather in the West
End, referred to by locals as the intellectual side of town. . . .
[T]his upscale neighborhood is home to many small shops, lots of
excellent (and often expensive) restaurants, and several hotels." The
guide goes on to say that a bunch of country music stars live in
mansions nearby. The neighborhood is also adjacent to Nashville's
Centennial Park, which features a full-size replica of the Parthenon.
If anyone else has any more info to share, we'd appreciate it, as well.
By the way, I learned today that NU sold its entire allotment of
tickets for the Vanderbilt game, so there should be a few Cats fans in
attendance. I'll be buying our tickets from StubHub or directly from
Vanderbilt.
