SjT: Drink the Kool-Aid.
Not sure your argument about why the Wildcats are due for a drop-off because
we've lost key players holds water. Last year, we went into the season
without our top offensive player (Bacher, to graduation); our top defensive
player was on the mend from a nasty bowl-game injury; our best receiver in
2009, as the season would turn out, had not been a significant contributor
in years past; etc.
The Northwestern system now is designed to do what elite programs do. You
get guys in from high school; they redshirt; they take over their junior and
senior seasons and, bang, you've got eight, nine or more wins.
Incidentally, the important thing I'm reading in all that has been written
so far about the 2010 Wildcats is that this team has enormous speed. We all
know speed kills.
Will there be rough spots during the season? Surely. But, looking at the
schedule, there is not one single game that we can't win. Not saying we
will. I'm saying we are capable of winning every single game.
Frankly, I'm bummed we don't get Michigan and Ohio State.
Make my Kool-Aid a frosty purple, please!
