The funny thing is that out of all of the potential opponents listed above
(some of which NU does have agreements to play in the near future, like
Army, Vanderbilt, Rice, and Stanford), a game with NU would be very unlikely
to be televised for any of them. Vanderbilt in the SEC is the most likely,
although under their agreement with ESPN it would likely be an
ESPN+/GamePlan/ESPN360.com game, meaning it still may be tough for some
people to get (although ESPN360.com is really cool if your internet service
provider has signed up for it, especially on Saturdays during college FB
season).
I think now with the BTN in its third season and agreements that have it
available throughout the Big Ten footprint as well as nationwide on
satellite and sports tiers, we Big Ten fans are taking TV exposure for
granted. Remember just a few years back when multiple games (nonconference
games, in particular) weren't televised at all (with no internet streaming
options, either). Now, we are demanding that every game be televised
(meanwhile, attendance is at its lowest levels since the "dark ages" and has
failed to eclipse 20,000 FIVE times since the start of the 2007 season).
