?? After reading the posts pro and con in regards to a home game at Yankee Stadium, my .02 is that as long as we keep 6 games in Evanston, if we schueduled the 7th home game?in Lower Gibbip , I'm fine with it.
?? Facts are that a home game atmosphere can be created in the east, as many NU alums reside in the Eastern time zone.? As most of you know, I'm in the minority on our list (non NU alum) ?as I got hooked on NU in the Dark Ages as a Chicago resident, and have bled purple since my move to Pennsylvania years ago.? I would assume that ticket sales would be offered (first) to season ticket holders, alums, and financial supporters (Which I am one of).?
?? Games at Wrigley, Yankee Stadium will increase revenues and exposure. As long as we keep 6 games in Evanston, including games vs. Mich, OSU, PSU, lets do it!
?? PS- I would not agree if we move high profile games vs. above-said opponents. This is "selling out"? No more "home" games vs. Ohio St. in Cleveland.
?? Doug DeCinces Dept:? As Coach Roy knows,? Doug DeCinces was an excellant third baseman for the O's who took over for...Brooks Robinson.? I was going to post some info for us east coast Cats pertaining to the 7 PM (EDT) game on 9/19/09 game?at Syracuse, but this news pales in comparison to the story about Yankee Stadium!? But here goes...
?? Ticket prices are stiff; ranging from $38-68 dollars.? Prices on Subhub are much more manageable, about 1/2 what is offered at face value.? Additionally,? SU's website exclaims that they are only 9700 tickets short of a sell -out for Coach Marrone's first game.? I would assume that if the Goph's beat 'em, and they get hammered by PSU, tickets will be cheap and plentiful.
?? However, if SU beats either Minnesota or PSU (not) , tickets could be expensive. For the record, I expect Minnesota to put aside their excitement of opening their own stadium and beat SU. Lord knows they have experience playing in domes.
? Early Towson prognostication:? Wildelk has good news. My son attends Robert Morris U. (freshman)?outside Pittsburgh, as he's majoring in Business, with an emphasis in Sports Mgmt.? RMU has an excellant program, and lots of opportunities with the Pirates and Penquins. (Internships, work, etc.)
? Anyway, Wild's wife miises her first child terribly, and has dictated that we will be in Pittsburgh with him (he started 8/20/09...early!) over the Labor day weekend, so how much of the "scrimmage" on Saturday I will see is debateable.? Get carries to someone,? get Persa in, no one hurt...NU 41 Towson 10.? I'm interested in how the defense looks, as that unit will determine how far we will go.
????????????? GO CATS!!!????????????? Eric

The NY Giants played the "best game ever" in the old Yankee Stadium in
December.
A football field fits in there just fine - with the sideline parallel to the
3rd base line.
I'll take a bowl there - NU would get at least :20 a night during the week
prior on each of the local TV outlets. <g> :20 more than we get there now,
and in Chicago most nights.
(does Fitz have a regular TV or Radio show yet?)

May all plans to play an NU home game in Yankee Stadium go up in flames.
A)
I have no admiration for Yankee Stadium, old or new; B) Don't tear up
baseball fields playing football on them; C) We're NorthWESTern, not
NorthEASTern. Let them play there or maybe Rutgers-Connecticut.
Considering that our retiring President, Mr. Bienen, is originally from
this area, and that our incoming President, Mr. Shapiro, is currently from
up
the road a bit (Massachusetts), they might well disagree with your
statement.
I don't know why people on this list are so negative about Jim Phillips
trying to boost the program's visibility by playing in famous baseball
stadiums (stadia?), unless we lose true "home" games (at Ryan) a
s a
consequence.
If we can make NU football a recognized "brand" by doing this, and provided
that the Administration and the Athletic Dept. continue to adhere to the
principles that have made our program a standard-bearer for doing things
the
right way, how can that be a 'bad" thing?
