You left out part of the statistic. The Cats are said to be 6-1 at HOME on Halloween. Our road record on Halloween isn't so good.

Our only other game in the modern era (1995-present by my definition) on Halloween was in 1998 when we lost badly to Michigan State on the road in the midst of an 0-8 Big Ten campaign.

Our last victory (home or away) on Halloween was at home over Indiana in 1959. 50 years ago. Under Ara Parseghian. And the Cats were ranked number 2 in the nation at that time. Our first victory ever on Halloween was at home in 1895 over Lake Forest-Rush Medical.

We've only won one road game ever on Halloween: A 12-11 victory over Illinois in 1903, our only Big Ten win that year, but good enough to win a share of the Big Ten Championship with a 1-0-2 record (we tied Chicago and Wisconsin).

So how will we fair against Penn State? No predictions here, but let's hope that as the sun sets over Ryan Field tomorrow, the ghouls and goblins are wearing purple.
