[NU Sports] Penn State and Bowl hopes

Frankly, I don't think we deserve to go to a bowl game if we end the season 6-6.
Assuming the mostly likely 6-6 scenario (beating Illinois, losing to PSU, Iowa, and Wisconsin), we really won't have beaten anyone good. Just check (for example) the Sagarin ratings for our opponents--it's not pretty.
Now, give me 7-5 season with a win over any one of those three, and it's a different story.
Aside from some admitted loss-of-faith during the first half on Saturday (and thank goodness the team had more confidence in its abilities than I did), I do think we are capable of beating anyone left on the schedule. Maybe. Barely.
Who knows, maybe we'll beat everyone left. Where would we end up then?
