I think those big rolls are mostly when the punter takes off sideways
and kicks past the receivers.  The soccer style punt does tend to have 
less hang time, which isn't always a plus.  

FWIW, Nebraska's kicker handles FG/PAT and punting responsibilities, 
but not kickoffs.  Last year he wasn't the punter, but he wanted that
job this year and won it during pre-season practices.
