[NU Sports] Rick Leach Rips Lloyd Carr

The view from down the road from AA is that this is all "inside baseball" conversations about who loves who best.

The upside of filling a big stadium every weekend is that you have a lot of money.

The downside of having a lot of money is that it attracts powerful people who feel they should have a say in how you are going to spend it.

Rich Rod as the new guy has to win in order to quiet those factions among the UoM faithful who were unhappy with his signing and its repudiation of the the Carr legacy. It appears that Carr doesn't mind being associating with one of those anti-Rod groups.

This (like the training dustup) will go away if Michigan at least has a winning record (bowl game) or beats OSU this year. As soon as he does both in the same year, people will no longer care about the opinions or the records of previous coaches - Rich Rod will be the guy (like Bo) who brought Michigan football back. Ultimately his fate and his legacy, just like Carr's, will be determined by his record against OSU.
