Glad to see "Chicago+Evanston" and not "+South Bend" or "+Champaign" :)
But honestly, it's hard not to read the list of rankings and not laugh.
The top four are all great sports towns - but LA at #5?? The city that doesn't even have an NFL team and whose fans are notorious for leaving other sporting events as early as possible and only showing up when the team wins? That's great sports fans???
And Miami in the top 10 and Atlanta in the top 15? These are the two WORST sports towns ever. They can't even fill their stadiums or arenas for PLAYOFF games.
And further down the list: #50 Jacksonville, #51 Green Bay -- now, I am not a Packer fan, but this is just downright insulting. Both towns have only one major pro sports team. Jacksonville may not have a blackout lifted on the Jags this year, while Green Bay has a season ticket waiting list that goes on for generations. By whatever measure you would use -- fans, facilities, team performance, history, etc. -- there is no conceivable way Jacksonville outranks Green Bay in anything related to sports.
And those are just the things that jump off the page on a 5-second quick glance ... so even among silly, fun, debatable surveys and lists, this one is hard to take at face value.
GO CATS!!!
