I was on the fence over which was worse for NU in this game.
Until that last play.
GET A FRIGGIN' PLAY CALL IN!!! Instead we wait for the clock to run down and for at least 10 seconds, EVERYBODY IN THE FRIGGIN' STADIUM CAN SEE THAT THE PLAY CLOCK IS A HALF SECOND AHEAD!!!
Arrrgh.
Thank goodness for Purdue's butterfingers for keeping us in this game - but still, NU should be blowing the Boilers out right now.
The offensive play calling is absolutely terrible. It's weak between the 20s and just atrocious in the red zone. I thought McCall was turning the corner in the first six quarters of the season, but this game has shown that he is just not ready to be a big league coordinator yet.
And when we do have a good play call ... or at least a play called in before the clock runs out ... the blocking by the O-line and receivers is nonexistent. Andrew Brewer is lucky his whiff and subsequent stick by the Purdue defender didn't result in a fumble and return for a TD.
By sheer dumb luck, we're still in this game. DO SOMETHING, CATS!!!
GO CATS!!!
