Certainly if wisky beats Hawaii we would have very little legitimate claim to go to Tampa. If wisky does lose to hawaii and we get snubbed again (assuming 2 BCS teams from the BT) then we can probably assume that the Outback has no use for us now or ever and take the hint that 3 times snubbed means forget it

According to Lindsay Wilhite in the Daily Herald, a little birdie in the Northwestern athletic department says it's 80 percent the Wildcats go to Orlando for Champs on Dec. 29.

Which may, of course, ultimately prove true.

In the meantime, it's:

1) Indisputable that the Outback Bowl Jan. 1 in Tampa ranks higher on the bowl food chain, and

2) Someone within the university and within the Northwestern athletic department as well are clearly angling for going Outback. To wit, this just now from the department's Twitter feed: "NU_Sports: Vote early, vote often! RT @NorthwesternU: Vote for #Northwestern to play in the Outback Bowl. We're in 1st now! http://bit.ly/893APB"

So:

3) Might it be that we might yet be Tampa-bound?

Go Wildcats!
