Shingle creek is very nice, mostly used for convention types, good golf  
course, not downtown but near Sea World, the tourist central strip  of 
International Drive, Universal, upscale Millennia Mall, and a  good bit North of 
Disney. Also handy for the airport. For the bargain  conscious it might help 
to include Sanford airport and Daytona Beach  airport in airfare searches, 
some smaller markets fly directly into those two.  Tampa is a good hour away 
but also possible.  Southwest and JetBlue are my  favorites here.
