Notre Dame wasn't even on the schedule from 1949-1958, nor from 1977-1991. More signifiantly,
Notre Dame hasn't been on the schedule since 1995. From what I hear the Irish have no
interest in a series against the Cats as long as it includes any trips to Evanston.
But then, they can still pick and choose who they play, the Cats cannot. BTW, the talk in
Lincoln is that Nebraska also is not interested in scheduling Northwestern as long
as it includes a trip to Evanston, though they MIGHT be interested if there was a game
at Soldier Field (but not one at Wrigley.) Oddly enough, there seems to be less interest
in a single game in Lincoln, perhaps because NU is viewed as a team that is too likely to
win.
